Buy the iPhone Outright
As expected, the iPhone 4S has just been announced (we weren’t sure if it would be called iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S), and is now available. Currently no mobile providers are selling the iPhone 4S outright – you can view and compare iPhone plans at the following links: Vodafone, Virgin, Optus or Compare all iPhone Plans. The iPhone 4S is currently available to order outright and unlocked from the Apple Store, with free shipping. Prices are summarised in the following table.

The iPhone 4 is available to buy outright in 8GB black or white versions. The 16GB and 32GB versions of the iPhone 4 have been discontinued with the release of the iPhone 4S, although some stores may still have stock of the older models with larger capacities.
Being able to buy the iPhone 4 outright is great news for all iPhone users who don’t want to be locked in to a contract, but had little alternative when the iPhone 3G was initially released.
