Dear Santa, All I Want For Christmas Is An iPhone….

by Luke on November 24, 2009

The following is a form letter that you can use to send to Santa, Mum, Dad, Grandpa or Grandma. Send it to whomever you think will be most likely to get you an iPhone for Christmas. Send it to all of them to increase your chances!

Dearest Santa/Mum/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa,

I can hardly believe that it’s almost that time of year again? How time flies when you’ve been a good boy/girl.

But I can assure you that I am not just good to increase my chances of getting good presents at Christmas time. In fact, my motivations are quite the opposite. I believe in doing good and helping others purely because it’s the right thing to do. But you already know that about me.

As you also know, I’m not a greedy person. In fact I have no desire whatsoever for lots of trinkets and toys on Christmas day. And let’s face it – they get played with for a day and then are forgotten forever. Yes, I regret some of my Christmas present requests of the past.

While on the topic of Christmas present requests, I should mention how little thought I have given to this topic this year. I have been far too busy doing good deeds to think about my own happiness. And so in the few brief moments of thought I have given to the topic I have decided that I would like only one present.

Yes, you read correctly – just one. I know it’s modest of me, but you can share the other presents I would usually get with those more in need. And I’d prefer we focus on what’s really important this Christmas – peace on earth, time with family and loved ones and contemplating the real reason for the season.

So my humble request of one present is for an iPhone. Yes, just a simple telephone. Mainly because I want to be able to call Grandma [insert name here] more often. And with an iPhone I’ll be able to email Uncle [insert name here] who is far away in [insert place name here]. I often think of Uncle [insert name here] when I am out and about and being able to send an email from my phone will really bring our family closer.

The GPS in my iPhone will also help me give better directions to old ladies crossing the road. Sometimes I help them cross the road – but who knows if they even know where they’re going?

And I have this great idea for an App and all the money I make from selling it will go to worthwhile charitable sources. So this one solitary present isn’t really about me – it’s about others.

Now I know how busy you are Santa/Mum/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa – so I wanted to make getting this one present so easy for you. I have done all the research and homework so you don’t have to lift a finger (except take your credit card out).

If you want to buy an iPhone outright the best place to order one is from the Apple store online. They don’t lock their iPhones to any phone network and they have the cheapest iPhone price around. They start at only $719 for an iPhone 3G with 8GB of storage. That model is a little old now, so I think the iPhone 3GS with 16GB storage is far better value at $879. And then there’s the 32GB iPhone 3GS for $1,040. Those are the cheapest prices available in Australia.

But really, it’s up to you. I don’t want to be too picky with my one solitary present for Christmas. But my preference is the [insert model name here] iPhone in [insert colour here]. And so you get one before they sell out, click here to visit the Apple store right now.

If you’re a little short on cash this time of the year Santa/Mum/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa, I have another really good idea. And really it’s the present that keeps on giving. And keeps on giving – for 24 months actually! You can get the iPhone on a plan for 24 months and that way it doesn’t have to cost you anything upfront this Christmas season.

I bet you never thought you’d get away with not spending a cent upfront on me at Christmas time! But after all this is about you and not me, so it’s only fair.

Now once again I have looked into where I think the best deals are if you want to get me an iPhone on a plan. I’ve narrowed it down to my top three choices:

  • 3 Mobile – they have the 32GB iPhone 3GS for only $10 per month extra on a $49 Cap! And if you prefer the 16GB version it’s only $5 per month on the $49 Cap. And do you want to know the really interesting thing? 3 has this online deal at the moment where if you sign up on a $49 Cap or above you get a $50 credit! It’s almost like you’ll be making money this Christmas! Click here to check out the 3 iPhone plans.
  • Vodafone – I could get a zero dollar upfront iPhone with no ongoing handset repayments for the 16GB version on a $69 Cap. And once again, you can sign up for it all online, so you don’t even have to leave your living room. Click here to check out the Vodafone iPhone plans.
  • Virgin – they have some pretty cool deals if you are happy for me to go on a $70 plan. Click here to check out the Virgin iPhone plans.

Well Santa/Mum/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa, this letter has been quite long enough, but I really did want to make it as easy for you as I could. I know how busy you are at this time of the year. If you have any questions at all you can let me know or just surprise me on Christmas day – I really don’t mind.

Yours Sincerely,

[Insert your name here]

PS – I have a fantastic Christmas present for you – I know you won’t be disappointed!
